Lectio Divina: Listening for the Word

In the rush of daily life, it’s easy to miss the subtle currents of meaning around and within us. Lectio Divina, an ancient Christian contemplative practice, offers a way to slow down and connect with the sacred in a personal, transformative way.

The practice is simple but profound. Traditionally, it moves through four steps:

  1. Read – Reading scripture or spiritual texts looking phrases that stand out to you.

  2. Reflect – See what the text has resonated for you the most.

  3. Internalize – Think on, speak or write a response, even just a single line.

  4. Meditate – Sit quietly and let Presence arise without forcing it.

You don’t need to do it perfectly. The point isn’t mastery or memorization. It’s practicing the Presence through receptivity. Just get as close as you can, even for a few minutes each day. Over time, this practice cultivates clarity, steadiness, and a deeper sense of connection that naturally flows into your work, relationships, and daily life.

Lectio Divina reminds us that the Word isn’t just text , it’s the Word made flesh. It’s the difference between knowing about God and having an actual experience of the living God within each and everyone of us…
